Partnership Examples

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care

Pallium partnered with Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care to help catalyze the adoption of the palliative care approach by their organizational staff, and drive improvements through supportive leadership. The initiative promoted inter-team member engagement and improved resident-focused care.

Brock University

Pallium has partnered with Brock University to help build a Compassionate University. This initiative is being led by public health students with the engagement of university staff, professors and support of Pallium’s Compassionate Community Startup toolkit. One area of focus for Compassionate Brock is building caregiver, death, and grieving knowledge, and aligned supports, into the guidance that staff provide when supporting students and fellow colleagues.

Emergency Health Services (EHS) in Nova Scotia and PEI

The EHS organization and Pallium worked together to develop and implement a new course specifically for paramedics and achieved strong results. All ground ambulance paramedics in NS and PEI completed the LEAP training and they saw a significant reduction in transports to hospital and emergency rooms.

Palliative 4 Canadians

In early 2018, a working group of Canada's four national palliative care organizations was formed to work with the Federal, Provincial and Territorial Governments to review and implement strategies to improve the quality and access to palliative care in Canada. The working group consists of Pallium Canada, the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association, Canadian Virtual Hospice, and the Canadian Society of Palliative Care Physicians.
