Pallium is a community — a community of clinicians, educators, researchers, carers, administrators, volunteers, Aboriginal leaders and citizen advocates working together to accelerate the integration of palliative care in Canadian communities and health care systems.
It is our firm belief that improving palliative care in Canada is everyone’s business. There are many ways to become involved with Pallium to help ensure Canadians have the palliative care they deserve.
Train Your Team in Palliative Care
Pallium equips Canadian healthcare professionals across different settings with the skills and tools to provide a palliative care approach.
Pallium’s LEAP courseware is nationally standardized, evidence-based, peer-reviewed and undergoes continuous evaluation and improvement. Most courses receive accreditation from the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians.
With over 15,000 learners trained on LEAP and over 600 facilitators in communities across Canada, Pallium is ready to work with your organization to host a LEAP course and begin empowering your team to deliver better patient-centered palliative care.
Start a Compassionate Community
To guide its efforts in mobilizing communities around palliative care as a public health issue, Pallium Canada has adopted the Compassionate Communities theory of practice. At the core of this model lies a Compassionate City Charter, a tool that is used to build compassionate communities and drive social change.
To help individuals and communities get started, Pallium has created a Compassionate Community Start-Up toolkit. This toolkit was designed to provide interested parties with information and resources on the topic, the types of resources and commitments that will be required, and practical tips and tools to help position the team for success.
