An introductory palliative care course for health professional teams working in the community
Target learnersHealthcare professionals (mainly physicians, nurses, pharmacists but also others) working in the community whose primary focus of work is not palliative care but who, in the course of their work, care for patients with life-threatening and progressive life-limiting illnesses
AccreditationLEAP Mini has been accredited by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for 16.5 certified Group Learning Mainpro+ credits
  • Provides learners with the essential, basic competencies of the palliative care approach
  • Ideal for established teams (e.g. family health/medicine team or clinic), enhancing teamwork, promoting interprofessional collaboration, enhancing collaboration amongst providers in different agencies who need to work together (e.g. community-based family physicians, home care nurses, community pharmacists, etc.)
  • Competency-based
  • Workshop format; maximum of 40 learners
  • Length: 1 day or total of 8.5 hours (9.5 hours including breaks)
  • Pallium trained and certified LEAP Facilitators
  • Ideal learner to facilitator ratio of 10:1 in certain circumstances, may be up to 15:1
